A senior banker with a desire to make a positive impact on society. Passionate about creating an environment with people at the heart. I have a proven record of success with numerous achievements in retail banking leadership. My dream is to inspire the community to proactively grow Crowdfunding in Africa as an economic solution, while using my experience to shape its reputation; firstly, as a solution but also as a brand.
We have launched a donation crowdfunding platform which will be followed up by loan and equity all in DRC. Our long-term goal is to grow across the Africa continent.
In August 2019 I moved from the UK after 27 years back to my place of birth DR Congo, as I believe the diaspora have an important part to play in Africa from a finance and a competence perspective. In the UK I built a career in the banking sector after a professional football career. I worked and lead teams both in Lloyds Banking Group and HSBC Bank UK. For me DRC is a start-up economy and needs diversity within the investment and finance sector to meet the many complex needs.
Joining the network would create a further arena where we can learn and grow with a community who share a similar vision. The shared experience within the community with those further ahead will help shape a better ecosystem in Congo..

Son of an African-king-come-politician and Swedish mother, Djo Falanga Moupondo was born in the Congo. In 1991, due to Security issues in Congo, being the child of a Swedish expatriate mother, Djo moved to Stockholm to continue his schooling. Wanting to become a Medical Doctor he studied Natural Science and graduated from High School where he majored in Math and physics. While in high school, Djo developed a strong love for Music and during his senior year, the feeling grew to what he explained has a calling and he decided to try out his chances in the music world. After high school, Djo applied to an esteemed Privately owned vocational education institute and studied Music Production while working several jobs to cover his expenses. In 1999, together with his brother Mohombi, he started the group Avalon. In its 9 years of existence, Avalon sold over 500.000 thousand records and was awarded best European/Caribbean act in 2003 at the Kora Awards, a prestigious award often seen as Africa’s equivalence to the US Grammy awards.

At the age of 22, Djo started his first company. Sueco production, a Music and Event production company based in Sweden. To better master his new role, he felt it important to educate himself in the arts of business and obtained Bachelors degrees in both Entrepreneurship and Ethnology from Södertörn University in Stockholm.  In 2006, together with Mohombi and long-time friend and DJ Bruno Lopez he co-founded La Clique Music, a music production & publishing company. Today LCM has offices in Sweden, UK, Dubai and DRC; it is involved in over 9 million sells and has had over 20 top 10 songs in several countries including two US Grammy Awarded song “Baddest girl in town” with Pitbull & Mohombi in 2016 and “Mi Gente” with J Balvin, Willy William & Beyonce in 2018. Djo acted as Chairman & CEO of La Clique Music until 2018, when he decided to step down from the CEO position. Stepping down from the operations of the Music companies allowed him to focus and develop the groups vision on creating a sustainable entertainment Ecosystem in Africa by investing in 3 new start-ups (MUSKA, a Pan-African Music streaming platform); La Clique Media (Media Company with 1 Radio Station in DRC); (LCD, Content Distribution company).

In 2007, Djo decided to move back to DRC and help develop SODEICO, the family company founded in 1987 by his parents. In 2002, Sodeico opened an HR Management branch to meet a growing demand for experienced and qualified personnel in the Congolese employment market. By 2007, Sodeico had over 30 clients and was rapidly growing. Djo started as a Business development Manager, within a year he assumed the position of Quality Director. When he became commercial director in 2009, the company had a turnover of $2.8M and within five years the turnover reached 15M earning him a position as Deputy CEO in charge of Operations & Development of the company in 2015. During his 10 years as a Senior Business developer, Djo’s visions and objectives had always been to expend geographically and diversify the activities of the company. In 2017, he was entrusted to create and Manage Sodeico Development, a new company within the Sodeico Group. Sodeico Development (SD) is a business development, marketing and Management consulting firm that specialize in helping enterprises to create sustainable growth through successful expansion into the African market.
